our values

NLFF will establish a culture that will assist it in reaching and ministering to the people God has purposed in our lives by defining values and then unashamedly protecting and embracing those values. NLFF has 6 values that work as guardrails helping us to stay true to our vision while making decisions as to how to best live out our purpose. We only do things which align with our values, or don't contradict any of them.

1. The Home

The Christian Life is a Personal Matter.

2. The Church

We are Stronger Together than We are Apart.

3. Effectual Prayer

We Pray First and We Partner with God to See it Happen.

4. Gospel Centeredness

The Gospel is the Center of Everything; That is What we Preach.

5. Authenticity

We are Not Putting on a Show or Wearing a Mask; This is Life.

6. Messiness

We Meet People Where They Are BUT Don't Leave Them There.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

WE BELIEVE IN THE ONE TRUE GOD
There is one and only one living and true God, the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth.  He is inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love.  God is eternal and consists of three separate beings (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) equal in divinity and power yet executing distinct and harmonious ministries in the work of redemption.
Genesis 1:1,26; Exodus 20:2-3; Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 4:11, 22:13

WE BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Word who was with God and was God, is the only begotten Son of God.  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and is the express image of the invisible God.  He combines within Himself both the nature of God and the nature of man in one perfect indivisible personality, the God-Man.  He lived a sinless life and suffered in the world to show the Way of Life.  He was crucified, died and rose again as the atonement for the sin of the whole world, making the only provision whereby man can find forgiveness of sins and cleansing from all unrighteousness.
John 1:1, 3:16, 14:6; Matthew 1:18-25; Colossians 1:15; Romans 6:23, 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:4; 1 John 4:10, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 2 Timothy 4:1

WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, given as an indwelling presence to every believer at the time of conversion.  He makes us aware of sin in our lives and therefore is responsible for convicting us of that sin.  He is our teacher, guide and source of comfort.  He purifies the heart of the believer and imparts at His own choosing spiritual gifts for service and the building up of the body of Christ.  He produces in believers the fruit of the spirit so that they may conform to the image of Christ.  Also, the Spirit testifies with the believer's spirit that he is a child of God.
John 14:26, 16:7-8,13; Acts 1:8, 9:31; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 8:16

WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURE
We accept fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the inerrant Word of God, inspired in all parts and therefore altogether sufficient as our only infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice.
Psalm 119:160; Proverbs 30:5-6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12

WE BELIEVE IN THE GENESIS ACCOUNT OF CREATION

The Genesis account of creation is neither allegory nor myth but a literal, historical account of the direct, immediate, creative act of God over six literal days without any evolutionary process.  Man was created by a direct work of God and not from previously existing forms of life.  All men are descended from the historical Adam and Eve, first parents of the entire human race.
Genesis 1-2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17

WE BELIEVE GOD CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE

The image of God is fully present in every person of every race and gender from the moment of conception.  Man was created with the ability of knowing and obeying God's will.  However, by choosing to disobey the revealed will of God, he became sinful both in nature and practice.  By this act of disobedience, man suffered spiritual death, and sin entered the world.  By himself, man has no possible means of salvation except through Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1:26; Psalm 139:13-14; Jeremiah 1:5; John 1:12; Romans 5:12-19, 8:1, Ephesians 2:8-9

WE BELIEVE IN SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH

We believe salvation is the free gift of God, neither merited nor secured by any virtue or work of man, received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  We further believe that after accepting Jesus as our Savior, we should strive for righteous faith and a continuing desire to be transformed into the likeness of Christ.
John 1:12, 3:16; Romans 8:1, 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5-7

WE BELIEVE IN THE EXISTENCE OF SATAN

Originally, Satan was created a heavenly being but because of pride and wicked ambition, he rebelled against God and became the great adversary of God and His children.  He is allowed by God to rule over the present earth until Jesus returns.  While Satan is active in this world, the Christian through the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him is able to resist Satan's temptations and have victory over him.
Job 1:12; Isaiah 14:12-15; John 10:10; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Ephesians 2:2; 1 Peter 5:8-11; 1 John 4:4; Revelation 12:7-12

WE BELIEVE IN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe that a Christian church is a local assembly of born-again believers that meet together for worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, a united testimony, and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission.  We believe in the priesthood of all believers, and that each believer has the right and responsibility to personally study and interpret the scriptures guided by the Holy Spirit.  We also believe that Christ is our Great High Priest and, through Him, every born-again person has direct access into God's presence without the need of a human priest.  Jesus Christ alone is the Head of the Body of Christ, into which all true believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit.  We believe that each church is free to govern itself and should cooperate with other Christian churches as the Holy Spirit leads.
Matthew 18:17, 28:19-20; John 14:6; Acts 2:41-42, 6:1-5, 13:1-3, 15:22-23; 1 Corinthians 11:2, 12:13; Galatians 1:22; Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:11-15; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 4:16; 1 Peter 2:1,5,9

WE BELIEVE IN OUR LORD'S PERSONAL, IMMINENT RETURN
Jesus Christ will return for His redeemed ones, and He is coming in glory to judge the rebellious and to establish His reign on earth.  Satan and all those who have not accepted Christ as their personal Savior will be cast into a literal hell.
Zechariah 14:4-11; Matthew 24:29-31, 25:31-46; John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51,52; Philippians 3:20; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 2:7-10; Titus 2:11-14; Revelation 20:3-10
